Weekly activities are open to everyone and FREE. Age ranges are suggestions.

Crafty Tuesday
Tuesdays 11am-12:30pm
Each week we have a new craft project, geared toward ages 2-6. Crafts take 10-20 minutes.

Ornament Wednesday
Wednesdays in December, 11a-12p
Add some flair to your tree this year and get handcrafted ornaments to boot. Every Wednesday in December. Kids will have the chance to make unique ornaments. $3 for each child or attend all four for $10.

Moms Groups
Fridays 10am-12pm
Weekly playdates are a relaxed time for moms to connect with other moms in the area and let their kids play.

Kids Cooking Classes
Tuesdays at 4:15pm or Thursdays at 11:15am
A series of three classes introduce children to the flavors of the season with dishes they prepare! $3 per child, per class.

Cloth Diapers 101
Sunday, December 13, 2pm or
Saturday, December 19, 10am
An overview of the different types of cloth diapers, how to use and care for them. $10 per family registration required.

Parenting Discussion with Rebecah Freeling
Thursday, December 19, 6:30pm
“But Grandma Lets Me!” Rebecah Freeling of Briar Rose Childrens Center, a Waldorf School here in Columbus, will lead this workshop and discussion full of practical parenting tools. Donations accepted.

A little science, a little math, a lotta fun! We’ll have over a thousand Keva Planks out for building and playing with. A fun event for the whole family! We’ll also play some games everyone can enjoy.

Make & Take Craft Days
Saturday, December 5 and 12 11a-2p
Nothing says love like handmade! Bring your little snowflakes in to make gifts for loved ones. We’ll have ornaments, hand plaques, hand-rolled candles and more. Crafts will be 4 for $10.

What is Attachment Parenting?

According to Attachment Parenting International, AP is:

1. Preparing for Childbirth and Parenting: Read what you can about childbirth and make the decisions that are right for YOU.
2. Feed with Love and Respect: Breastfeeding is the optimal way to satisfy an infant's nutritional and emotional needs. However, "Bottle Nursing" applies nursing behaviors to bottle-feeding to help foster a secure attachment.
3. Respond with Sensitivity: Tune in to what your child is communicating to you, then respond consistently and appropriately.
4. Use Nurturing Touch: Touch meets a baby's needs for physical contact, affection, security, stimulation, and movement.
5. Nighttime Parenting: Babies and children have needs at night just as they do during the day.
6. Provide Consistent and Loving Care: Babies and young children have an intense need for the physical presence of a consistent, loving, responsive caregiver.
7. Practice Positive Discipline: Discipline that is empathetic, loving, and respectful strengthens the connection between parent and child.
8. Strive for Balance: It is easier to be emotionally responsive when you feel in balance.

However, remember AP is an approach, rather than a strict set of rules. Parenting is too individual and baby too complex for there to be only one way. The important point is to get connected to your baby, and attachment parenting helps. AP is responsive parenting.

Holiday Hours

Starting after Thanksgiving we will be open 7 days a week, with late nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

We will close Christmas Eve at 2pm and not reopen until Tuesday, December 29 when regular store hours will resume.

New Years Eve we will close at 4pm and we will be closed for inventory on New Years Day. Happy 2010!
